Acer Intel HD Graphics card issue fixing. ( Showing Microsoft basic display adapter instead of Intel HD Graphics )

Last day, I bought a new laptop for my brother. It was a Acer Aspire E 15. I have installed windows 8.1 and installed all the drivers.  then i have realized my Video driver is still not working and i can’t even play a PowerPoint presentation.

Then i try to download the latest Intel HD drivers and install it. Each and every time when i try to install new drivers, it gives me an error like below.

So, when i go to my device manager and check the Video adapter, it showed my my video adapter as “Microsoft basic display adapter” instead of “Intel HD Graphics”.

Lets solve this issue.

STEP 1 – Download the latest Intel drivers from website. Click here

STEP 2 – Download the zip version matching to your os.

STEP 3 – Try to install using setup.exe and it will get fail.

STEP 4 – Go inside Graphics folder and edit igdhl64.inf file using notepad.

STEP 5 – Go to device manager, then go to Display adapter, then double click on the display adapter you have. After that go to Details tab. Select “Hardware ids” from dropdown.

STEP 6 – Take a note of DEV_###, in my case, it is 5916. Search it on the notepad. It is showing up in the w10 section. (Windows 10 section).

STEP 7 – Copy it to the line to the correct section. Look at below.

STEP 8 – Edit it according to the section. If you pasted on windows 8.1 section, you have to change “ISKLD_w10” to “ISKLD_w81” (if you use windows 8, “ISKLD_w8”) and save.

STEP 9 – Run the setup.exe again. Then you are good to go.

But if you get another error while you are installing it by saying “Setup is unable to complete due to unknown error” or something similar to this, Try to disable “driver signature enforcement“. Then everything will be ok. Thanks and hope to write more tutorials for you. Feel free to comment and share.
